The 27th edition of Sthlm Jazz Festival will take place at Skeppsholmen/Stockholm between June 10th-12th. The first artists are booked and presented as follows.
WAYNE SHORTER
Regarded as on e of the most significant and prolific performers and composers in jazz and modern music National Endowment for the Arts "American Jazz Master", Wayne Shorter has an outstanding record of professional achievement in his historic career as a musician. He has received 6 Grammy Awards. In 1964 Miles Davis invited Wayne to go on the road with his band which included Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams and Ron Carter. In 1970 he formed Weather Report. Last time Shorter performed in Stockholm was in 2005.

THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES
The most significant acid jazz band with the fabolous singer N’Dea Davenport will bring out many memories from the ninties when they visit the festiva in Junel. Who doesn't remember the hit songs ”Dream on dreamer”, ”Apparently nothing”, ”Midnight at the oasis” and the theme from the Swedish TV-programme 'Nilecity 105,6' ”Dream come true”?!

GRETCHEN PARLATO
Last year Gretchen Parlato released her honored second album ”In a dream” that was rewarded as the best vocal jazz album by influental music magazines. Gretchen is mixing jazz with brazilian and african elements and has already performed with great artists such as Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. This Summer she performs in Sweden for the very first time.
