Kool & The Gang, Jasmine Kara, John Scotfield, and Bobo Stenson booked!

Spring is in the air and we return with four new confirmed acts ahead of this years festival.

KOOL & THE GANG

Kool & The Gang's funky hits from the '70s set a new standard for club music with songs like "Jungle Boogie" and "Funky Stuff". When disco became big in the 80's, they adapted quickly to the new sound and wrote huge disco floor fillers such as "Ladies Night", "Celebration," "Get Down On It" and "Fresh". The band is still regarded as one of the strongest party bands in the world, and rumor claiming that the form is apparently quite tuned! Beyond that, several of the band members really fine instrumentalists will often overshadowed by the hits. Clifford Adams, trombonist, drummer George Brown and saxophonist Ronald Bell are examples of this. Put on your dancing shoes and prepare you for the festival ösig most evenings!

JASMINE KARA

21 year old Jasmine Kara springs from Iranian roots, grew up in Sweden and musically educated in the United States. With a sultry soul voice that softens the most hardened hearts, Jasmine has already garnered a rapidly growing fan base - with more sure to follow. The title of Kara's debut album "Blues Ain’t Nothing But A Good Woman Gone Bad" speaks volumes about its content as well as Jasmine Kara’s cool attitude to the whole genre. Heavy catchy choruses and state of the art production values and arrangement help elevate this donna skywards... watch out!

JOHN SCOFIELD PIETY STREET BAND

It's hard to write anything about John Scofield that hasn’t already been written. He is an incredibly gifted musician, who has inspired jazz guitarists worldwide for many years - a fact that hasn’t diminished his need to seek out new ways to express himself musically. Ever since his first recording as a bandleader in 1977, John Scofield has also been able to establish himself as a great composer and arranger with a string of classic tracks under his belt.
On the album "Street piety" Scofield returns to what was his first musical love - the blues. "I always wanted to record and tour with a blues project," said Scofield. "It’s where I started out as a  guitarist". And now it's time to see Scofield with his Piety Street Band live at the

BOBO STENSSON TRIO

Bobo Stenson as an artist needs no introduction. For over 40years, he has served as one of Sweden's most iconic and important pianists. During his long career, he has helped to define the concept of modern jazz piano and jazz music in society today. He has played with renowned international artists as Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Gary Burton, Don Cherry, Jan Garbarek and George Russell to name a few. Early pioneering trios such as Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, and before them, Bill Evans, inspired Stenson while helping him develop his own unique style.

Each decade has seen at least one re Bobo Stenson - From the sixties trio with Palle Danielsson and Rune Karlsson to the eighties and Charles Lloyd and Stan Getz quartet. In other words, Bobo Stenson can be with some of the heaviest names in the jazz world and we are all very proud to present this eminent trio at Stockholm Jazz Festival 10th
